Creating faux cloud effect in the ceiling of the house is not at all a big task today. Children in the house often are observed having the habit of lying on their back in the floor of the house in a hot summer afternoon and staring above. Faux cloud paint in the ceiling can give them an immense pleasure as it closely resembles the real sky. The amount of efforts required for a faux cloud painting will totally depend on the size of the ceiling. The bigger is the ceiling the more are the efforts to paint it.

Procedure involved in faux cloud painting

To start with one should make sure that the ceiling surface is smooth and comprises of a fresh coat or two of paint in a very light sky blue shade. The next step will be to mix two glazes one in white and the other one in light silver gray. The white glaze with a cotton rag should be then applied which will resemble the center of the clouds. It gets thinner and bended as we get to the outside edges. It should be noted that glaze should be applied in a strict circular rubbing and dabbling motion. After having done this, while the white glaze is still wet a small amount of silver glaze with another rag should be applied at the edges of the white cloud and later should be bended. According to their own preference one can create white billowy clouds or even clouds that have more of silver gray cast to them which ever looks better in appearance. At the end if its found that one got too much of the silver gray on the clouds, the solution will be simply to go over with more of the white glaze.

Painting clouds in the ceiling would sometimes proved to be a very creative idea as the photographs would inspire the painter as he or she starts to paint the ceiling. But creativity should be supported by the exact tools and equipments in the absence of which the beauty of art may get diminished. Blue color wash for the sky, white paint for the clouds, a supportive video along with all the small and big tools such as brush, rag, cloths etc are very much essential for effective and good results.
